The polls for the 2008 Medical Weblog Awards are opened. A quick look on the nominees revealed only one Dutch contender Laika’s MedLibLog. This weblog is nominated in the category Best New Medical Weblog. Please support her and vote for her. Unfortunately ShockMD did not make it to the shortlist.

At the end of the year a lot of lists are made. In the Netherlands we have for instance the Top 2000 about music. Acumeme, Canada’s E-health | EHR blog comes up with a top 50 of Health 2.0 blogs. This list also contains one dutch blog.

43. Laika’s MedLibLog. Another blog heavy on the medical library end of health 2.0 and written by a Dutch medical information specialist, this blog offers topics such as WikiMindMap, Dutch medical blogs, and more.

In my honest opinion Dr Shock should have been included in the list as well, but Acumeme did not include a specific category for blogging physicians. People who would like to take a look at an extensive list of medical blogs can take a look at the list I created. It has not been updated (August 2008)  in a while, but it still gives a nice overview.

July’s MedBlogEN top 100 is published. For now this will be the last MedBlogEN top 100. I am not sure what I am going to do with the MedBlogEN top 100. If someone has ideas let me know.

Dokter Shock is verhuisd. Vanaf nu is het niet meer ectweb.blogspot.com, maar kun je de website van Dokter Shock vinden door doktershock.nl of shockmd.com in te typen. Het was al niet al te lastig om te achterhalen wie er achter dit medblog zat, maar nu is het ook gewoon op het weblog te lezen.

Today I published the MedBlogEN of March. Due to memory problems I had to split the list into two. The first 300 medblogs you can find at the normal url. The last 400+ medblogs you can find at a new url. I hope I will be able to solve the problem soon.

I just published February´s MedBlogEN top 100. Also take a look at the ranking of weblogs of physicians, pharma-people, nurses, patients, paramedics, journalists, managers, others, unknowns and students.

Na een weekje te hebben vertoefd op de pistes ben ik weer terug in Nederland. Het rondje langs de medblogs is er komende vrijdag weer. Nu even een kort artikel waarin ik de aandacht wil vestigen dat Oliver Sacks is begonnen met webloggen op NYTimes. Op dit medblog behandelt hij het onderwerp migraine.

I have upgraded the MedBlogEN-list. Firstly I categorized the medblogs. I tried to find what the writers’ profession was. I made a distinction between physicians, pharma-people, nurses, patients, paramedics, journalists, managers, others and unknows. It is ofcourse possible that I made mistakes. So please let me know if I wrongly categorized a medblog. Secondly I removed non-relevant or closed sites from the list. The list is now pretty up-to-date. If you want to add your medblog to the list, please send an e-mail to jan @ medblog.nl. Don’t forget to mention your profession in the mail. And please include the url to your feed.

I just updated the MedBlogEN top 100. This month KevinMD conquered the first position. WSJ features at the second position. Third in line is Pharmalot. NHS Blog Doctor enters the top 10 coming from position 52.

I just updated the MedBlogNL top 25 for December 2007. And I also updated the MedBlogEN top 100 list for December 2007.

Internet and especially medblogs (=medical weblog) are a great source for medical anecdotes. Medical students as well as esthablished physicians write interesting articles about their experiences. Some of these experiences are just funny to read and some may even widen your perspective. During the last months I collected some interesting anecdotes that I will present below. This is just a small collection of interesting information that you can find on medblogs.
